Last Tuesday I had the opportunity to play a gig at the Scottish Parliament on behalf of Edinburgh College. I had planed what I was going to perform in advance so, the whole performance went very well. I had a lot of good feedback from both guests of the event and from the staff organising it. I really enjoyed this great opportunity to play in such a vast building as the Scottish Parliament and I would be happy to perform at other events like this again.
I began my performance by playing some Scottish sets as the guests were arriving. I feel this helped to set the tone for the rest of my performance because a lot of the tunes were well known by the majority of the guests. Then, I changed into a jazz set consisting of some slow and fast tunes this was again a wise choice as a lot of the tunes that I played were popular jazz standards. To end my performance I returned to Scottish tunes and I added one Swedish tune called 'Tokka' which is a little jig similar to Scottish folk music to give an upbeat mood and tempo to finish before the event speeches began.
