On the 16th of February I will be performing in a fund raising concert for the Teenage Cancer Trust, taking place in Kinross Parish Church at 3pm. The piece I have chosen to play on the harp, is a lively Swedish tune called 'Toker'.
I have made my own arrangement of this popular tune.
Here are the details of my arrangement of 'Toker' : 4 bar introduction. The melody will be played with the right hand once; then it will be repeated again in the left hand with the right hand playing a counter melody. Then the melody will return again to the right hand, played twice, the 2nd time I will add rhythmic variations and put a little rallantando in the end.
I will be practicing this arrangement leading up to the performance so that I can perform it at a high standard. When I play my arrangement of 'Toker', I need to keep my tempo steady throughout the piece because there are a lot of notes to play in the melody. I will also use a variety of dynamics for expression and to hold the audiences' interest, I plan to begin playing quite boldly then getting quieter in the middle section and finishing the piece mezzo forte. I shall be repeating
the melody of 'Toker', four times.
